As I mentioned on my "About Me" page, I am the daughter of a fashion guru, my father. He was the head of visual display and a clothing buyer for a Richmond, Va icon, Thalhimer's Department Stores in the late 50's early 60's before opening his own custom decorating and later florist business. I grew up with his creativity which was not always easy.
Something I did learn from my father was how to dress like a lady. Believe it or not he purchased all my mother's clothes and no matter what people think or say of that era and "free love" the fashion was AMAZING! My mother matched from head to toe and was always accessorized. That is where it all started for me.
In my high school days I really developed my love of clothes and own style but no matter what I put on, it still had to pass my father's watchful eye before I was allowed to leave the house. Yes, there were some days that little tidbit caused tears, a lot of tears. But now looking back, I'm glad he cared. I walk through stores now and the things I see would have him turning over in his grave! What happened to us? When did pajamas become suitable for public? When did we stop caring about how we look or decide we need to look like the teen queens gracing YouTube? I do not get it. Dress as a lady, act as a lady, and the world will treat you as a lady.
We'll explore this together.
Love,
Kelly
