So growing up in the South, it was a HUGE no no to wear white pants/shoes/dresses, heck anything but a blouse or socks really, before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. Yes, that is a real thing. Wearing Winter white was always a work around because it is a little off, not a pure as snow white.
Well times have changed and so has the feeling about this. I love this look. It is youthful but not too young and paired with a great "boyfriend" cut blazer or a mid thigh driving coat in camel. WOW! Then use a scarf in peaches and creams just ties it all together. I'd use mixed metal jewelry and I added a few pieces from the wonderful Grace&Heart Jewelry line. Just gorgeous, comfortable, and stylish. You go girl. LOVE IT!
I use Pinterest quite a bit when I’m looking for some great ensemble ideas and my brain is just not helping! Do you ever stair at your closet like if you look long enough something new and exciting is just going to appear? Oh thank goodness. I thought it was just me. This simple look is amazing and will make you stand out in the crowd. Pair a classic blazer, if you don’t have 1 bright color, go find 1, and partner it with your favorite jeans. This look is fantastic with the layered black buffalo check and simple black sweater.
Yes! Just yes! OK. Classic! Now that we’ve loved the whole look, let’s look at each piece. Top is a wonderful pairing of a blouse in a leopard print (you can wear it I promise) styled with a great v-neck sweater. A cardigan could easily be used as long as it fits properly. You could also add a thin belt around the waist of the sweater for extra style points. The skirt is just a gorgeous red. The fit will be important. I believe all women can wear a pencil skirt as long as it fits properly. Make sure it hangs nicely and does not pooch around the stomach or upper thigh area. If you sit a lot at work, look for a heavy knit that doesn’t wrinkle. The shoe is to die for but any classic black heel will do and the bag is stunningly versatile.
I have a jumpsuit and I love it BUT fit is EXTREMELY important when picking one. If you are longer in torso be careful to look for a jumpsuit that is darker in color and fuller through the hip. This will cut down on the chance of any embarrassing, shall we say, wedgies. Always be a class act and fit is absolutely everything. Remember to consider the type of event you will be attending too when deciding if a jumpsuit or romper is a good idea. Make sure the zippers or other hooks are easy to access for trips to the ladies room. That really goes for any thing you are wearing, especially to a special event. This lovely classic can be really glammed up by wearing a chunky necklace or cuff. This look is simple, elegant, and easy to wear.
NO! But like with any other top, it’s how you pair it. I will say this, we are not 20 somethings or heck even 30 somethings and that’s ok. To make this outfit work, I’d change the shoes from the high platform to a great bright red flat or Keds type tennis shoe. Something with style but still comfortable without looking boring or clunky. If you are going with a heel use a wedge or a chunk heel. Be comfortable. The rest of the outfit? Rock it girl!
I believe every woman should have a basic black pant suit or pinstripe. The key to a great suit is the accessories you wear with it. That includes the top/blouse under it. Another key to the perfect suit is the fit. Find a tailor or seamstress that can make sure that buying off the rack still looks custom tailored. Invest in yourself! You'll feel better when you are comfortable in your clothes and carry yourself with more confidence. Suit pictured is by Ann Taylor.
OK. I have a confession...I am a pushover when it comes to color BUT be strategic. Wear accent pieces that are bold and pair it with something classic like this wonderful black skirt. If you have flow and movement to the top, keep the bottom simple. Add color that you are in love with. Gold or merigold is huge this year! Gorgeous bright color that can transition from office to an evening out by changing heel height and adding a great bracelet or go for a clutch. Image by Evelina Evelina. Earrings Chanel.
